Cookies Policy

What cookies and similar technologies are and what information they can store or access
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember actions and preferences over time. Similar technologies include pixels, web beacons and local storage. These tools can record information such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited, time spent on pages, device identifiers and referral sources. In the United Kingdom they are regulated by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations together with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Why the site uses them
truthara operates a commercial website offering professional training in live television production. Cookies help deliver core functions such as secure access to course materials, maintain session continuity during equipment demonstrations, measure how visitors interact with studio integration content and support legitimate business operations. Without these technologies some features would not function correctly and user experience would suffer.
Strictly necessary, functional, analytics, advertising and social-media categories
Strictly necessary cookies enable basic site navigation, security and form submission. Functional cookies remember preferences such as language or video player settings. Analytics cookies collect aggregated usage statistics to improve course content on camera techniques and lighting setups. Advertising cookies may be used by third parties to deliver relevant promotions. Social-media cookies allow sharing of pages but are not currently active on this site.
First-party versus third-party cookies
First-party cookies are set directly by truthara and remain under our control. Third-party cookies are placed by external providers such as content delivery networks or analytics platforms. Both types may be present when you view embedded production process demonstrations or contact forms.
Session versus persistent cookies and meaningful retention or expiry information
Session cookies exist only while your browser is open and are deleted when you close it. Persistent cookies remain on your device for a defined period, typically between thirty days and two years depending on purpose. For example, authentication tokens expire after thirty days of inactivity while performance cookies may last twelve months to support long-term trend analysis.
The data handled and purpose of each used category
Strictly necessary cookies handle login status and form security tokens. Functional cookies store display preferences. Analytics cookies record page views and navigation paths to refine training modules on acoustic optimisation. No category collects sensitive personal data beyond what is strictly required for service delivery.
The consent or exemption basis for each category under the target jurisdiction
Strictly necessary cookies are exempt from consent under PECR because they are essential for the service you request. All other categories rely on your explicit consent obtained through the site-wide cookie banner. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing already carried out.
A cookie or provider table with names, purposes, providers, categories, and durations
The following table summarises the main cookies in use. Strictly necessary: session identifier, provider truthara, category necessary, duration session. Functional: preference storage, provider truthara, category functional, duration 365 days. Analytics: usage statistics, provider Google Analytics, category analytics, duration 13 months. No advertising cookies are deployed at present.
How the consent manager works and how users can reject, change or withdraw choices
The cookie banner appears on first visit and allows granular selection of categories. Rejecting non-essential cookies prevents those technologies from activating. You can reopen the banner via a link in the footer to adjust preferences later. Withdrawal of consent takes effect immediately for future visits.
Browser-level controls and the functional consequences of disabling cookies
Most browsers permit blocking or deleting cookies through settings menus. Disabling strictly necessary cookies will prevent login and form submission. Disabling analytics cookies will not stop the site working but will reduce our ability to improve content on dynamic camera techniques and live show production.
International transfers and a plain-text cross-reference to the Privacy Policy
Some analytics providers may transfer data outside the United Kingdom. Appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses are in place. Full details appear in our separate Privacy Policy which is available on request from [email protected].
